Gremio, a club from Porto Alegre that has just returned to the Brazilian top flight thanks to second place in the Serie B championship, has announced the signing of Luis Suarez, fresh from the World Cup with Uruguay.
The 'Pistolero' was released after returning to his homeland where he had played for the last six months in Nacional.
He signed a two-year contract with Gremio Suarez, in the presence of vice president Bruno Caleffi and general manager Antonio Brum, which will expire in December 2024. He will wear the number 9 shirt and his salary will be paid largely by the club's sponsors, which will involve the footballer in a marketing plan.
Meanwhile, still in Brazil, Flamengo reached an agreement with Marseille to bring back the former Roma player Gerson, whom Olympique coach Igor Tudor had confined to the reserves.
The agreement was found on the basis of 15 million euros plus one bonus, but given that Flamengo still owes 6.5 million from the OM related to when the player made the reverse journey, from Brazil to France, at the end the carioca club will pay 8.5 million, while Gerson will sign a five-year contract.
