• The band Garbage will perform in Israel in August

The group, which is known to the general public mainly with the hit "Stupid Girl", began working on the follow-up album to their 2021 record, "No Gods No Masters", a few weeks ago - according to the band's lead singer, Shirley Manson, in various interviews she recently gave to American media "In and in the UK.

"We started working on our eighth album. We still feel very enthusiastic when we are helped to create another album," she shares with the openness and excitement that accompanies the creative process.

"I was very proud of our previous album, and I still am. When we finished working on it, I knew it was very good and that we managed to get something really, really good under our hands.

"Making a new album feels a bit challenging in a certain way," she admits.

"But stylistically and musically, I know that we will never run out of ideas. When we get together in the studio and play, melodies just come and so do the words," she describes the creative process that she has shared with Garbage since 1994.

In addition, she explained how she tries to connect with her inner self before the band starts thinking about new projects - this is in order to express herself in the most correct and up-to-date musical way for her at the time of writing the album.

"Every time I write a record, I ask myself, 'What do you want to say this time? These are the things you want to say and express before the day you die,'" says the 56-year-old Scottish singer.

"Self-expression in music always feels exciting. You say to yourself, 'Wow, my God, I really managed to touch the things I wanted to get out of myself and express them.'"

Manson previously referred to the long career of Garbage, who have been active in the music world for almost 30 years and admitted that the band does not take for granted even a single positive review it receives.

"To be honest, I have to admit that we've reached a stage in our career where we're just ready for the worst," referring to the commercial failures Garbage have had to deal with in the past, after two successful first albums and a relative drop below the mainstream radar.

The relegation of the band to the margins happened after the release of their third album from 2001, "Beautifulgarbage", which, although it produced hits such as "Androgyny" and "Cherry Lips", was the first low point in Garbage's career and was not commercially successful in many countries around the world, especially in the US. B. "That's why we are always surprised by positive reactions.

Despite the many years in which we have been active, we never get used to or expect that our materials will be well received and receive applause," she admits.

Garbage is an alternative rock band founded in 1994 by Butch Vig (a famous rock producer who, among other things, was responsible for producing Nirvana's iconic masterpiece album, "Nevermind"), Steve Marker and Duke Erickson.

The band's intention when it was founded was to rebel against the "masculine" grunge scene that dominated at the time and try to create a different sound that is influenced by electronic music, pop, dance, rave, trip-hop and alternative rock.

The American members of the band, who lived and established a recording studio in Madison, Wisconsin, in the USA, added the Scottish Manson to the band, whom they discovered by chance late at night, when they watched a music video for a song by her previous band on MTV. They invited her to the USA for an audition, and since then Garbage have become A cohesive and active band to this day.

In 1995, the debut album that bore their name was released and was a huge success around the world.

It sold about four million copies and even earned the band the "Breakthrough of the Year" award at the EMA Awards in 1996. From the album came singles that became huge hits that are still considered classics to this day, such as "Stupid Girl", "Only Happy When It Rains" and " "Queer".

Manson immediately became a female icon in the alternative music scene, with the media declaring her a sex symbol.

In 1998, Garbage released "Version 2.0", considered by many to be their best album, and managed to replicate the success of the first album.

From it came the hits "Push It", "I Think I'm Paranoid", "Special" and other successful singles that are played on radio stations around the world to this day.

As part of the album tour, the band came to Israel for two performances.

In 1999, the band recorded the theme song for the movie "James Bond: The World Is Not Enough", which is still considered one of their biggest hits.

In 2001, as mentioned, Garbage released "Beautifulgarbage", in which they tried to break out of the stylistic boundaries that characterized their two previous albums, and incorporated many more styles, such as electro-pop, R&B and hip-hop.

Although it was successful in some countries around the world and two semi-successful singles came out of it, the album was considered a serious commercial failure compared to the two previous records - and since then Garbage has remained the property of her devout fans and alternative music fans only.

In 2005, Garbage released their fourth album, "Bleed Like Me", in which they tried to return to the rock roots that characterized their initial work.

The relatively successful single "Why Do You Love Me" was released from the album.

In 2007 they released a compilation album called "Absolute Garbage".

From that year until 2011, the band took a long hiatus from the international music scene due to exhaustion and disgust with the music industry, which they claim pushed them into a corner with ridiculous expectations, they claim, of being a "hit machine".

They returned in 2012 with the album "Not Your Kind of People" and returned to stages around the world.

In 2016, they released "Strange Little Birds", and as part of the tour that promoted the album, the band came to Israel for the second time and performed at the Shuni Park Amphitheater in Binyamina.

In June 2021, the band released its seventh and final album, "No Gods No Masters", which is considered the most political album the band has ever released - in which Manson touched on the lyrics of Trump's rule in the US and the Black Lives Matter movement.

At the end of 2022 Garbage released a compilation album bringing together all the singles released from 1995 to 2021 including a song that was never officially released called "Witness to Your Love", which was even released as a single with an official music video shot by the band.

Now, as mentioned, the band entered the stage of writing and recording in preparation for the release of their eighth album.
