What is allergic rhinitis and how is it treated (Walla system)
The cold and viruses that go around this time of year cause many of us to have an annoying and incessant cough that can stay with us for several weeks.
Although coughing is a natural reflex, it is a disturbing phenomenon that can drive a person (and their environment) out of their mind.
so what are we doing?
Certainly not enough with cough syrup.
In previous studies conducted in the last decade and examining thousands of patients with severe cough, no difference was found between those who used the cough medicines and those who took dummy medicines (placebo).
According to health organizations around the world, in cases of standard cough, the traditional home remedies are more effective, and they calm the irritation in the throat that causes the cough.
There is no quick and safe way to eliminate the cough caused by a viral infection.
When the body manages to overcome the infection, the cough is expected to improve little by little.
Still, grandmother's remedies of all kinds are an excellent solution for the first stages.
Here are 4 special tastings:
honey

This is the best-known grandmother's medicine of all, and it usually comes in a combination of tea and lemon.
From a review of studies conducted in 2015, the effectiveness of honey against cough was higher compared to no treatment at all for symptomatic relief of cough in children.
Even when the effectiveness of honey was compared to that of antihistamine treatment (an anti-allergy drug that is effective against coughs called diphenhydramine and is found in many cough and cold medications), honey had an advantage and it reduced the severity of the cough and its frequency.

Licorice, or in its Hebrew name bald licorice, contains a chemical that reduces swelling and thin mucus secretions and improves coughs.
It is a traditional treatment for coughs, asthma, sore throats, and licorice is also used as an expectorant, increases secretion from the bronchi, helps release phlegm and soothes irritated mucous membranes.
Licorice root has an anti-inflammatory effect and helps calm the digestive system and reduce abdominal swelling.
chocolate
The most delicious cough medicine.

It might sound too good, but eating chocolate can actually help against a cough.
The component called theobromine, which is found in the cocoa plant, and is therefore also found in chocolate, was found in a study published in 2012 to be effective against coughs.
The study was presented by the Society of Thoracic Medicine in England.
Theobromine, a bitter alkaloid in cocoa, has been found to be a better cough suppressant than codeine - found in some common cough syrups.
The chocolate actually creates a protective coating on the nerve endings in the throat - which activates the urge to cough.
And here are some more benefits of dark chocolate:

Strong alcoholic beverages are known for their effectiveness in fighting infections, mainly due to their antiseptic properties.
Hot water and honey can be added to whiskey, thus strengthening its effectiveness against sore throats and annoying coughs.
Of course, it is not about large amounts of alcohol that can cause other health problems, but moderate use.
