Boris Becker has announced that he will take legal action against Cathy Hummels, whose statements he considers punishable.

According to his lawyer, the ex-tennis star reported the influencer.

His client accuses her of public defamation, said lawyer Samy Hammad of the dpa news agency.

"Anyone who defames my client in public in the future must expect a harsh reaction from my client and from me," Hammad said.

"It is enough."

According to him, the complaint was filed with the Munich I public prosecutor's office.

There you could not confirm the receipt on Monday.

"Image" had previously reported.

The background is said to be Hummels' statements in a podcast about Becker and his prison sentence for delaying bankruptcy.

Hummels said in the podcast about Becker, among other things: Just because you're famous, you shouldn't be treated with kid gloves.

Becker committed a "crime" and had to "serve out" the sentence.

She added: »He cheated, cheated and fooled a lot of people.

That's just not right.

«

Hummels' lawyer said his client was unaware of the content of the criminal complaint and the specific allegation.

Therefore one cannot comment on the matter.

Irrespective of this, Cathy Hummels stands by the view expressed in the podcast that when imposing a judicial sentence, other standards should not be applied because of a "celebrity bonus".

At the end of April, Becker was sentenced to two and a half years in prison by a court in London because he had not properly declared parts of his assets in his bankruptcy proceedings.

He was released in mid-December - after 231 days behind bars - and flown to Germany.

He does not yet know where he will go, he said in an interview with Sat.1 presenter Steven Gätjen that was broadcast afterwards.

Under British law, prisoners cannot actually be paroled until they have served at least half of their sentence.

For Becker, that would have been 15 months, i.e. until July 29, 2023.

However, the former exceptional athlete benefited from a special dismissal and deportation program.

Any foreign prisoner “who can be released from prison and deported up to twelve months before the earliest release date” is eligible.

This should provide relief for British prisons.

Becker does not have to serve the remainder of his two-and-a-half-year prison sentence, but he is not allowed to enter Great Britain until then.

Cathy Hummels, 34, is a moderator and influencer on Instagram.

She became known as the wife of footballer Mats Hummels.

They married in 2015 and have a son together.

At the end of October 2022, Cathy Hummels confirmed the separation, and in December the two announced their divorce.
