New Year's Eve 2023 is still clearing hangover residue out of our heads, but the 2022 recaps are still here, making it abundantly clear that a date on the calendar is still just a date on the calendar, and where there's something interesting to bite into (and devour) - you should always sink your teeth into it.



And this time, disgusting numbers from the "Ten Bis" delivery company, which concludes a successful year in its sector, and an equally successful year among its customers, who are in their seventies, it seems.



And I write "bastards" not because there is manipulation here, but every natural premise that accompanied us during the peak years of this bustling two-wheeled industry was shattered to pieces in the face of the truth.



In other words: Thursday is *not* the busiest day of the week, hamburger is *not* the most popular dish, and Israel's sushi city is *absolutely not only* Tel Aviv.

According to the bright orange delivery platform, the most ordered dish in Israel on the evenings of the past calendar year (starting at 6:00 p.m.) was pizza, with 13.5% of all orders.

Sushi is not far behind (12.1%), while hamburger deliveries took third place, with a segment of only 8.1%.



This classic trio of deliveries will rule the top for the foreseeable future, but the world of desserts (6.1%) is taking a bite out of this dominance, with meat dishes (6%), pasta (5.1%) and salads (4.9%) behind.

The table is rounded off by Asian food, shawarma (which is certainly more popular at lunchtime) and sandwiches.



In relation to previous years, the heads of the company indicated a significant increase in orders in general, and a dramatic jump in relatively healthy food deliveries, such as soups (a 224% jump) and juices or smoothies (181% more compared to 2021).

The falafel, by the way, also registered an interesting increase of 81%, although it is difficult to label it as a real health food.

In the division into cities, the loaded motorcycle is already gearing up.

Tel Aviv prefers sushi, stigmatically but accurately, followed by hamburger and pizza.

Haifa goes more meaty, with hamburger, sushi and pizza only in third place (by the way, maybe it's related to the excellent patty of "Knock Out"), and in Jerusalem they mix places with pizza-hamburger-sushi.



Other prominent cities provided results not far from these, but all of them maintained the identity of the culinary leaders.

Eilat, for example, kept the number one place for pizza, as did Beer Sheva and Netanya, but Rishon LeZion shot sushi to the top of the ranking, gave honor to pizza in second place, and went all out for meat dishes, all the way to the relay bronze medal.

The day they order the most during the week is actually - and completely contrary to everything we knew to think - Wednesday, and the next day, Israelis attack the dessert category, apparently as a sweet preparation for the weekend

The toppings were also counted, if you're wondering, and the data showed a great local fondness for pairing fried onions and egg with hamburgers, while pizzas were kept relatively moderate , in the form of green olives, mushrooms and corn.

The globalization of Ten Bis has also led to relatively interesting data from around the world.

So, for example, the leading dishes in France are still hamburgers, pizza and Japanese food, reinforced by tacos, while Spain mainly attacked veal hamburgers, pizza with added meat, salmon nigiri and an omelette with potatoes, a tortilla in fact.



Italy, obviously, strengthened the status of the pizza, with an emphasis on a classic margherita and a side of salami, as well as a cheeseburger and salmon nigiri.

Germany remained within the limits of the consensus, expanding it a little with a love for kebab dishes and avocado maki.



At the same time, the dominant order on French Valentine's Day was Indian food, and the most popular dish this year in the Netherlands is Kapsalon Döner - a trashy and wonderful fast food celebration that includes chips, meat, melted cheese and even more garlic.

"Food has always been associated with culture, and it is very interesting to see the trends and orders in different countries and cultures," explained Tomer Pepper, CEO of Ten Bis, while predicting acceleration and growth in the market.



According to him, "even in Europe and the United States, ordering food at home is a routine matter .

It's a part of culture and life, and it's totally here to stay.
