(ANSA) - ROME, 02 JAN - A New Year's Eve with art: tens of thousands of people have chosen to spend the first day of 2023 face to face with the cultural heritage of our country, also thanks to the initiative - commissioned by the Ministry of Culture - which provides free admission to state museums and archaeological parks on the first Sunday of the month.


    "The success of Italian museums is a source of pride. The large turnout on January 1st rewards the effort made to keep our sites open and is proof of a great potential, still partly unexpressed - comments the Minister of Culture, Gennaro Sangiuliano - Almost all the great museums have returned to the attendance levels of 2019, the pre-covid year, and in some cases have improved them. I am sure that 2023 will be a happy year, our goal is to raise services and quality. I thank the women and men who work there , often in difficult conditions, which we are committed to improving".

Uffizi Galleries - The Uffizi7,624;

Uffizi Galleries - Boboli Gardens 7,584;

Castel Sant'Elmo and Museo del Novecento in Naples 7.011;

Roman Forum and Palatine Hill 6.409;

National Museum of Castel Sant'Angelo and Passetto di Borgo 5,958;

Royal Palace of Naples 5,788;

Galleria dell'Accademia in Florence 5,556;

Certosa and Museum of San Martino4,331;

National Archaeological Museum of Naples 4.114;

Royal Museums of Turin 3,996;

Palazzo Ducale Museum in Mantua 2,862; Monumental complex of the Pilotta 2,800;

Historical Museum and Miramare Castle Park 2,776;

Royal Palace of Genoa2,626;

    Added to these figures are the 23,433 visitors to ViVe diRoma, the autonomous institution created in 2019 and operational since 2020, which brings together the Vittoriano Monument and the PalazzoVenezia Museum, and the 23,175 visitors to the Pantheon.
