In times of inflation and recession, the current job market is quite uncertain.
But some professions, for example in gastronomy, emerge from the crisis as winners according to a survey.
Hiring freezes and mass layoffs like on Facebook, Amazon and Twitter - the current conditions on the job market due to the weakening economy are admittedly difficult.
That's why you should be careful when negotiating salary.
But with some professions, the proverbial silver lining shines on the horizon: They were in great demand in 2022 and were paid significantly better than a year earlier.
And according to an evaluation by the American remuneration platform Payscale
, this trend should
continue in 2023.
According to the American compensation platform Payscale, US waiters have the most recession-proof job.

Despite the recession: jobs that are still in demand and well paid
To determine which jobs are doing particularly well,
Payscale
compared salary data from more than one million Americans on the job between October 2021 and 2022.
According to Business Insider
, termination and hiring rates were also
part of the study.
Payscale
Vice President
Lexi Clarke called the jobs with double-digit wage growth last year "recession-proof".
These included, for example, jobs in the service and office sectors.
The top three:
Waiter: Wage growth of 30 percent
Private bankers (financial advisors): wage growth of 25 percent
Media directors: wage growth of 23 percent
Ambulance service and police: wage growth of 19 percent
Port workers, marketing/business developers, electrical/plumbing technicians: wage growth of 15 percent

Incidentally, in Germany, the profession of doctor is one of the best-paid jobs of all.
But there are also a few others that are quite interesting.
Number one “recession-proof” job: Waiter
American waitresses have seen their wages increase by 30 percent in recent months.
A lack of employees leads to rising wages for employees who are already employed.
The situation is very similar for employees in the rescue service and police departments.
Here, too, companies find it difficult to find – and keep – young talent.
According to
Payscale
, the average income of emergency responders in 2022 was $44,500.

Expert warns: no job change without the prospect of security
Even if this can be tempting, you shouldn't rush into a job change in times of crisis.
According to
Business Insider
, the economist at the American Institute for Economic Research warns of this.
Peter C. Earle warns: "Don't give up or take a job unless you are absolutely sure that something safe is waiting for you on the other side." He also believes that now is not the right time to take the job switch.
However, sometimes there are signs that it's time to change jobs.
