In an official letter that he distributed, the new Minister of Construction and Housing calls on his partners in the government and his neighbors to the office in the Government Kiryat East Jerusalem: "The united Jerusalem is one - join me in correcting the distortion"

Not even 24 hours have passed since he officially took office - and the new Minister of Construction and Housing, Yitzhak Goldknopf, has already ordered his first step in the new government, and even though he already agreed that he exists - it has nothing to do with the housing crisis.

In an official letter distributed by the minister to his coalition partners and neighbors in the government Kiryat East Jerusalem, Goldknopf calls for the annexation of the Kiryat East Jerusalem, to which the Ministry of Housing, the Israel Police Headquarters and the Ministry of Science and Technology are partners.

Well, the annex may not have authority, but on paper it certainly does.

Goldknopf writes in the letter, written on the office's official letterhead, that it is impossible for the address of the office that appears in the official letter to be 'Government Building East Jerusalem' - because "united Jerusalem is one, and it is no small matter that an official government paper will commemorate the de facto division of the city ".

So what does the letter say?

In the official letter, which as mentioned was sent to the Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben Gabir, and the Minister of Science and Technology, Ofir Akunis, Goldknopf writes: "When I entered the Ministry of Housing at a good hour this morning, I noticed that on the official letterhead of the ministry, the address of the ministry appears - Kiryat Yavlat East Jerusalem. The united Jerusalem is one, it is no small thing that an official government paper will commemorate the de facto division of the city."

Furthermore, Goldknopf writes, "What is it to us that we complain about other countries in the world that do not recognize our sovereignty over all of Jerusalem, the holy city, when in an official document of the Israeli government, the capital city is divided into East and West?!".

At the end of the letter, Minister Goldknopf calls on his colleagues to join him in "correcting the distortion", and to work towards changing the address on the government website, signage and official letters.

Government cosmetics - costs a lot of money

Miri Regev does not like the purple color ordered by her predecessor Merav Michaeli, and instructed all branches of the office to change all its colors back to blue and white.

Goldknopf, does not like the address 'Kiryat Mashla East Jerusalem' that appears on the government's official letterhead.

How much does each such change cost?

Let's recall that there were already ministers who decided to change brands.

For example, about a decade ago, in Uri Ariel's housing and construction ministry, they decided to lead a move that would brand the old ministry at a cost of NIS 141,000.

In addition to omitting the word "housing" from the name of the office, it was decided that the logo for the Star of David consisting of 27 "houses" in the colors of red, yellow, orange and green would also be changed.

The same logo, according to the minister, "will accompany the lowering of housing prices."

Of course, such changes do not end with the preparation of the logo and the name change, but also with new stationery, new stamps, new signage, new publications, etc. - which can amount to millions of shekels of public money.
