In Bavaria, the federal police discovered 16 smuggled migrants in a coach coming from Italy.
14 people are from Syria, two from Bangladesh.
They were picked up on Christmas Day at the Hörbranz border crossing on the border with Austria, as the Federal Police Headquarters in Munich announced on Tuesday.
Apparently the bus driver helped with the lock.
The migrants, including four women, four small children and a youth, were taken into custody.
They received reports of attempted illegal entry and were later sent back to Austria.
A 42-year-old driver of the coach is being investigated for attempted smuggling of foreigners.
The Syrian migrants, excluding the children, are said to have paid him 60 euros each to be transported to Germany despite the lack of documents.
The man was released after police investigations were completed.
According to the information, the second bus driver has so far been listed as a witness.
