Yesterday, after 37 days of hospitalization, the patient from Ischia transported by helicopter to the Cardarelli hospital in Naples, last November 26, was discharged due to the multiple trauma suffered in the Casamicciola flood.

The various traumas to the pelvis, ribs and vertebrae and the severe respiratory insufficiency had led the doctors to reserve the prognosis for the first days of treatment, fearing even the worst.

About 7 days after his arrival, the patient, recalls a note from Cardarelli, had in fact been transferred to the intensive care unit due to serious respiratory problems caused by the mud and water that entered the lungs.

Once full respiratory recovery was achieved, the patient was taken back to the Trauma Center in preparation for discharge.

During the latter period some complications related to hospital treatment had led the doctors to extend the hospitalization until yesterday's discharge.

"The news of the resignation of the patient from Ischia is the best wish that can reach the island and all of us for this beginning of 2023 - says Antonio d'Amore, general manager of the Cardarelli hospital in Naples - I thank the various Cardarelli teams who also in this case they were able to coordinate in a common work. Their competence and professionalism in managing the emergency is an important example. To Mr. Giuseppe, on behalf of all the Cardarelli staff, I send my best wishes to return as soon as possible in full health".
