(ANSA) - MILAN, 04 JAN - On the occasion of one of the previews dedicated to the press of the Consumer Electronic Show in Las Vegas, the main trade fair for tech innovations in the world, the Wireless Power Consortium announced Qi2, the new wireless charging standard for smartphones, smartwatches and other gadgets supported.
An evolution of current technology, Qi2 will be introduced later this year by the consortium and will offer millions of consumers who rely on wireless charging a better experience.
The Wpc is an organization dedicated to creating power protocols that push charging opportunities further, leaving the cables aside, without forgetting the safety features of power supplies and devices.
"Consumers and retailers have told us they are confused about which devices are Qi-certified. This confusion can lead to a poor experience and even security issues," said Paul Struhsaker, executive director of the Wireless Power Consortium from Las Vegas.
Our standard ensures that devices remain safe, efficient and interoperable with other brands.
Qi2 will be the global wireless charging protocol and will provide consumers and retailers with more than a guarantee". manufacturers to adopt a similar approach. The novelty of the Qi2 standard is therefore the "Magnetic Power Profile", a sort of magnetic element inserted in the charging bases, so as to automatically align the smartphones in the best possible position during recharging, guaranteeing greater efficiency and power supply speed. As indicated by the EU,
from 28 December 2024, technological devices sold in Europe will have to mount a USB-C port, without excluding the alternative of a wireless power supply.
