(ANSA) - ROME, 04 JAN - The surge in petrol and diesel prices is not only affected by excise duties, the cut of which has not been extended by the government, but also the shadow of speculation on price lists.

This was stated by Codacons, announcing a complaint to the Guardia di Finanza and to the Prosecutors of the Republic of all Italy so that they can turn on a beacon on the trend in pump prices.

"Petrol in self-service mode has already exceeded 1.8 per litre, while diesel in served mode has broken through the threshold of 2 euros per litre - explains chairman Carlo Rienzi - all this while international oil prices are falling and do not justify the trend of prices at the pump, net of the rise in excise duties. fuel directly from the oil companies, to verify the reasons for these increases at the pump".

Finally, Codacons recalls that only as a result of the failure to extend the cut in excise duties, the increased expenditure for supplies will reach a total of +366 euros per household in 2023, to which must be added the indirect effects in terms of cascading price increases on the price lists of transported products and on a multitude of services.
