Michal Hefetz, a clinical dietitian in the rebar network, explains that the recommended daily recommendation for a person over the age of 18 is to consume 0.8 to 1 protein per kilogram of body weight.

However, from tests done over the years, it appears that it is recommended to consume a larger amount, especially when you are in the prime of life, as well as at an older age - over 65. For people who engage in a lot of physical activity, it is recommended to consume 1.2-1.6 grams of protein per kilogram of body weight .



"The important thing we have to check is the total daily protein we eat, and it is highly recommended to spread the protein consumption over the entire day," explains Hefetz.

"The sources of protein can be from animals: eggs, milk and its products, meat, chicken, fish or from plants: legumes (chickpeas, beans, soybeans, peanuts, dry peas)".



Hefetz adds that the recommendation is to diversify the protein sources we consume, in order to get all the essential components for the body and reduce the chance of nutritional deficiencies.

There are differences between the proteins that come from different sources, which are expressed in their specific composition and absorption rate: animal protein is considered to be of higher quality, because it contains more amino acids, it is absorbed better and has a better effect on muscle synthesis in the body compared to plant proteins.



Whether you are engaged in professional physical activity or not, but it is important for you to observe proper nutrition and body health, surely you know that proteins are the most satisfying food source.
