With Die Frau im Meer, ZDF shows a new Nordholm case with Heino Ferch in the leading role.
Instead of briskly and entertainingly told suspense, however, the audience can expect a clumsily told story that looks more like a drama than a crime thriller.
Since 2015, ZDF has been broadcasting the Nordholm crime series "Nordholm" at irregular intervals, starring Heino Ferch and Barbara Aue (until 2020).
The first three 90-minute two-part series "Death of a Girl", "The Disappeared Family" and "The Girl on the Beach", all of which take place in the fictional, idyllic Baltic Sea town, were able to get a regular audience for themselves.
The inventor, author and director of the series is Thomas Berger from Dortmund, who not only sees Nordholm as the setting for the criminal cases of his team of investigators, but also intensively illuminates the stories of the town's residents.
Despite the serial structure, each film is self-contained, so that even newcomers to the series can at least theoretically get involved in the current events.
The networks of relationships built up in previous films are addressed by means of small reminders, mostly packed in dialogue.
