The government is preparing for 2023 between reforms and risks for the economy

Complicated days are awaiting the resumption of government and parliamentary activities for Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. Around the corner are the tax authorities, security and the seaside hub (ANSA)

She takes a few days away from official commitments, except those related to the farewell to pope emeritus Joseph Ratzinger.

But the resumption of government and Parliament activities are preparing complicated days for Prime Minister

Giorgia Meloni

.

Once the game of the maneuver is closed, there is now a whole year to plan and without the excuse of the limited time available, first of all, the legitimate aspirations of the forces of its own majority will have to be kept at bay.

The economy, for now, is not a concern, even if the risks of continued inflation are very present.

The increase in petrol was expected, with the end of the discounts on excise duties, but for the moment it is considered physiological and should be reversed.

In short, the government

is not thinking about new cuts on fuel

while it keeps the trend in energy prices under control, possibly ready to intervene in the spring.

The resources remain difficult to find without putting a hand on the deficit and will also be used to continue, as Meloni herself indicated in the press conference at the end of the year, with the tax reform and the cut of the wedge for employees.

A dossier that in any case should come to life not before February.

For the moment, the premier is also keeping away from the debate on

autonomy

- inflamed by the acceleration of Roberto Calderoli who has already sent his draft to Palazzo Chigi - as well as from the one on reforms, entrusted to the first mediation attempt by minister Elisabetta Box yourself.

In addition to autonomy, the League will in all likelihood return to asking for progress on the security front, with the package looking at specific measures on baby gangs, anti-terrorism and gender-based violence.

While

Forza Italia will bet everything on justice and, more closely, on the defense of seaside resorts

.

We will probably return to the question as early as mid-January - when the time for amendments to the Milleproroghe decree will arrive.

In the meantime Meloni should entrust the delegation on the seaside concessions to the Minister of the Sea, Nello Musumeci, probably already at the next Council of Ministers which should not be held, however, in the week of the Epiphany but in the following.

Also in January, the time will come to define the choices related to the

spoil system

: these are delicate choices that will easily expose the executive to criticism such as those triggered by the change of commissioner for post-earthquake reconstruction in central Italy, where the former mayor of Ascoli Piceno, and Fdi senator, Guido will take the place of Giovanni Legnini Castles.

But the 90 days envisaged by the Bassanini law (on which Meloni has already given the task to the Ministry of Public Administration to investigate any changes) are about to expire and it will be necessary to decide to maintain or change some key boxes, starting with the director general of the Treasury Alessandro Rivera (in the crosshairs of the majority since the beginning of the legislature) and by the directors of the tax agencies.

But

2023 could bring the first news to the Pnrr front

: the government remains intent on reviewing the entire governance mechanism of the plan with a decree that should arrive in the second half of January.

Meanwhile Meloni, who is preparing to officially ask Brussels for a review together with Minister Raffaele Fitto who coordinates all the work, could already talk about it at the beginning of next week with the President of the Commission.

Ursula von der Leyen will be in Rome on Monday for the presentation of a book on David Sassoli.

And it is not excluded that there may be a new meeting between the two.
