On International Doctor's Day, "Israel Today" will hold the "Doctors Today" conference for the first time, in the capacity of the new Minister of Health, Aryeh Deri.

During the conference, which will be held on Wednesday, January 11, 2023, we will discuss the central and burning issues in the field of health.

The event will be attended by ministers, senior officials of the health system, heads of the Medical Association, senior officials of the United Hospital Fund, senior doctors as well as patients.

We will touch on the depth of the critical issues in medicine in Israel: from the position of the doctor and the meaning of "being a doctor in Israel", through an examination of the state of medicine in the periphery and its various challenges, and decisions and challenges concerning the medicine basket.

Also, we will meet patients who are suffering from diseases that are on the discussion table these days.

In the panel that will deal with innovation and technologies in medicine, we will talk about medicine with its face forward: home fire, remote doctor monitoring and innovation that aims to benefit patients.

At the conference, we will interview the Minister of Health, Aryeh Deri, upon taking office, about his plans for the ministry.

In addition, Ran Reznik will interview the chairman of the Israel Medical Association, Prof. Hagai Zion, Mittal Yassur Beit Or will interview the president and chairman of Zabar Medicine, Dr. Itamar Ofer, and welfare reporter Efrat Porsher will interview the Minister of Immigration and Integration, Ofir author.

At the event we will hold several panels:

To be a doctor in Israel:

we will discuss the position of the doctor within the health system, its importance, the interns' protest and the violence towards the health teams.

The panel will be attended by: Dr. Leah Kahanov, specialist in Hadassah neurosurgery and chairman of the specialists' organization;

Dr. Efrat Weksler, head of the primary medicine division at Mohedat; Dr. Zvi Fishel, chairman of the National Heart and Lung Council; and Dr. Yoram Klein, director of the trauma and critical surgery unit, Sheba Tel Hashomer.

Seeing far

- medicine in the periphery: Inequality in medicine is a situation in which the residents of the periphery cannot receive proper medical services like the residents of the center due to an acute shortage of beds, medical equipment and personnel.

In this panel we will deal with the issue of inequality in medical services in the periphery and the position of the doctor in the community as central in the provision of health services.

The panel will be attended by: Tal Ohana, head of the Yoro Ham local council;

Prof. Nimrod Rosen, Director of the Orthopedic and Rehabilitation Department of the Emek Medical Center and President of the Israeli Orthopedic Association;

Prof. Masad Barhoum, Director of the Galilee Hospital in Nahariya;

Dr. Zahi Said, Advisor to the General Director of the Arab Company.

All the struggles in one basket:

the medicine basket, or as it is officially called the health services basket, actually constitutes the list of medicines and new medical technologies subsidized by the state.

Thanks to this basket, the lives of thousands of Israelis who could not purchase the drugs at their original price are saved every year.

In the panel, we will discuss the considerations of the drug basket committee and try to touch on the behind-the-scenes considerations of that committee, which literally determines the fate of thousands of patients every year.

The panel will be attended by: Prof. Shoki Shemer, chairman of the Assuta network and founder of the basket committee; Baruch Lieberman, founder and CEO of the Friends of Medicine organization;

Rabbi Yuval Sharlo, head of the Ethics Center at the Rabbinical Zahar organization and a former member of the basket committee;

Rita Furman Hadar, mother of two sons with Huntington's disease;

and Nat Nael Rodel, who is sick with Leth Habarik's brain, whose struggles have been exposed in "Israel Hayom" in recent weeks.

"Online to you":

health services and hospitalization at home - after the great revolutions we experienced in the age of data, the trend did not escape the world of medicine either.

Three years since the outbreak of the Corona epidemic, which accelerated the need and the sufferings in remote care and hybrid medicine, we will discuss the innovations and new technologies in the field.

The healthcare system is making a big change, and slowly more services are being opened for treatments at the patient's home, with their advantages and disadvantages.

The panel will be attended by: Dr. Zeev Feldman, MD, Chairman of the Medical Association and Director of Children's Neurosurgery at Sheba; Dr. Assaf Caspi, psychiatrist specialist, director of the McVen Sheba psychiatric hospitalization system;

Dr. Dov Albuquerque, VP of Medicine at Mouchadat;
