Yitzhak Moyal, Chairman of the Histadrut of the Building and Related Industries Workers' Union and President of the Foundation for the Encouragement and Development of the Construction Industry in Israel, in a personal column on the issue of the work of cranes in Israel

only in Israel.

Tower cranes, cranes that we all see on construction sites, are not monitored like heavy vehicles.

After all, every truck that hits the road is supervised by strict regulation of licensing, standards, annual test and repeated safety inspections.

But a huge crane, and there are thousands of such across the country, is less supervised than a private car and this is an omission by the government, which refuses to take responsibility for the cranes and prefers to close its eyes.

The Tower Crane Operators Sector Organization in Israel calls on the Ministry of Transportation to immediately return the crane sector back to its area of responsibility.

The issue of the work of cranes in Israel is built on a paradox, which claims the lives of tens of people and hundreds of injured per year, and requires the immediate intervention of the state and a clear regulation of the practice in this field.

Tower cranes (cranes) are means of transportation for all intents and purposes, which have been under regulation for years that the vehicle division of the Ministry of Transportation chooses to this day not to enforce and ignore the legislative requirements with a lack of authority.

The actual attitude of the officials of the Ministry of Transportation and the regulators sitting in it to an engineering machine that swings dozens of tons over the heads of workers and passers-by in the chaotic reality of the construction and infrastructure industry, as if it were a hammer - comes to a painful expression every day, affecting the safety of those who operate them, the workers at the construction sites and the citizens of Israel walking on the sidewalks nearby Construction sites where these giant cranes operate.

The National Committee of the Manufaiim headed by Roy Weinstein under the Histadrut of Construction and Allied Industries Workers, will not sit by when a government ministry that the law imposes an obligation to carry out supervision, enforcement and implement regulation set forth in Israel's law book, and not since yesterday - chooses for years to evade its responsibility and serve a small group of alleged importers , who work with the office officials directly, and of course it is comfortable and profitable for them.

I call on every manofai to join and strengthen the manofai sector community on its way to the most significant struggle in the history of the profession.

The fight for the application of existing regulations that will ensure their correctness and the level of professionalism in the maintenance of the cranes, the improvement of wages and the difficult working conditions and the fight for working hours and rest is a fight for human life and the quality of construction in Israel.

Not for wages and not for treats.

An improper, unmaintained or old crane is a danger to life.

A counterfeiter without real certification is life-threatening.

It is a struggle of every Israeli citizen, regardless of who he is.

In cooperation with the Histadrut of the Construction Workers and Related Industries
