Flight attendants look after passengers and are the first point of contact for safety and service on board.

But how much salary do they get?

Update from January 3rd, 2023, 8:23 a.m.:

The video to which our editors refer has now been deleted.

Lufthansa AG has not yet responded to our request of December 29, 2022.

The correctness of the data is therefore not verifiable for our editorial team.

First report from January 3rd, 2023, 7:30 a.m.:

As a flight attendant, you see a lot of the world, get to know foreign cultures and always have to deal with people.

For your duty roster, you can specify desired destinations where you would like to fly to - for example, it may be that you have a short stay at a holiday destination on the beach.

During this time you will be staying in a hotel and free to explore the area.

However, if you work in this profession, you also deal with jet lag on a regular basis.

But how are flight attendants actually paid?

Salary for flight attendants: It depends on the airline and length of service

The flight attendant's salary consists of a basic salary and supplements, for example from in-flight sales.

There are also expenses.

The tasks are varied, flight attendants greet the guests, give the safety briefings, work in service and are the first point of contact for any emergencies on the plane.

The pay depends on which airline you are employed with and how long you have been with them.

There are starting salaries, but if you've been with the company longer, you get a higher salary.

Behind the TikTok account "icandy_0206" is Angi, she is a flight attendant and student and explains in an exemplary way how much you can earn at Lufthansa in the first year.

A part-time model is used, in which one can work either 91%, 83% or 75%.

In a comment below the video, she corrects her information about the working model: "Correction to part-time work: 91% work eleven months and have one month completely free, 83% have two months completely free and 75% have a whole month three months a year free.

This means that there are no shift allowances and expenses in the free months.” (Status: December 28, 2022).

According to information from “icandy_0206”, in the free months you get about 1,859 euros for a 91 percent position, about 1,695 euros (83 percent position) and about 1,532 euros for a 75 percent position.

As mentioned, the data comes from flight attendant Angi and should contain basic salary and shift bonuses.

There would also be expenses.

Surcharges, for example from on-board sales, could also be added.

In part-time months, flight attendants would receive less salary, as the video shows.

With a 91 percent job, the earnings for a part-time month with 15 days off are around 2,011 euros.

A user writes there on the subject: "Underground now, at 2,200 gross, if you haven't studied anything." The information provided by the user cannot be verified by our editors.

Salary: Lufthansa and UFO agree on salary increases for cabin crew

In a statement from November 2022, Lufthansa and the union Independent Flight Attendants Organization e.

V. (UFO) new remuneration for around 19,000 cabin workers.

With effect from January 1, 2023, the basic salary is to increase by 250 euros.

In addition, a base salary increase of 2.5 percent is planned for July 1, 2023.

“The entry-level salaries are the main beneficiaries of the agreement.

Career starters in the cabin receive more than 17 percent additional basic remuneration, cabin employees in the final stage still almost 9 percent," says the statement.

Lower and middle salary groups benefit disproportionately from the agreement.

Michael Niggemann, Chief Human Resources Officer and Labor Director at Deutsche Lufthansa AG

The new collective wage agreement is expected to run until at least December 31, 2023, which can also be seen in the notification.

At the same time, various German media are reporting on the possible payment of millions in bonuses to the Lufthansa Executive Board.

Members of the supervisory board on the employee side see this as a violation of the requirements of the state rescue package.

After a conversation with a Lufthansa spokesman, the

Handelsblatt

reports that the bonuses that have been decided will only be paid out from 2025.

Therefore, there is no violation of state requirements.

However, not all members of the supervisory board agree with this, as the

Handelsblatt

further informs.
