Flatulence is annoying and sometimes extremely embarrassing.
But there is something you can do about the annoying air in your stomach – and you can do that with resources that you already have at home.
There is a lot of rumbling in the stomach, and it is also bloated – something like this can happen, especially after a large lunch.
On the one hand, this shows that the intestines are healthy and doing their job.
On the other hand, sometimes it's just uncomfortable.
The question then quickly arises as to how much farting per day is actually normal.
The unpleasant feeling of tension and fullness often also affects people who otherwise have hardly any problems with their stomach and intestines.
The cause of a bloated stomach is often an unhealthy or too rich diet.

Bloated belly: That's behind it
The reason for the bloated stomach is usually: too much air in the stomach.
So-called digestive gases are trapped in the foam-like chyme and cannot escape naturally.
The result is annoying and sometimes embarrassing noises such as gurgling, gurgling or even nasty flatulence.
In the worst case, the digestive gases even cause pain in the upper and lower abdomen.
However, some noises are definitely cause for concern – and a doctor's visit.

Is flatulence harmless?
Bloating itself is harmless and can even be beneficial.
They are also heavily dependent on diet.
However, if the overinflation is unusually severe or frequent, it is advisable to consult a doctor.
Especially if other symptoms such as persistent abdominal pain, irregular bowel movements, vomiting or diarrhea occur.
But: If you suffer from excessive flatulence, you should clarify with your doctor whether a food intolerance or an irritable bowel syndrome is the cause.
For example, a fructose intolerance, lactose intolerance or celiac disease can be behind the symptoms.
Home remedies, sports, medication - what helps against bloating?
But what is the best thing to do when things are not going well in the intestines and digestion is on strike?
Luckily, there are a few ways to ease the tightness and soothe your stomach and gut a little:
Tea:
Caraway, aniseed, fennel or peppermint tea in particular have a calming effect on the stomach.
In tea shops or pharmacies you can also ask for the “Four Winds Tea” (a mix of fennel, camomile, caraway and peppermint) – it takes some getting used to, but it has a very beneficial effect.
Hot-water bottle
: Warmth helps with stomach pains, as grandma used to know.
Anyone who is plagued by acute pain can make a hot-water bottle.
The stomach can relax better thanks to the pleasant warmth that loosens muscles.
Abdominal massage
: This should be massaged in a clockwise direction around the navel.
In this way, the movements of the intestines to mix and transport the chyme (intestinal motor function) are supported, which in turn allows trapped gases to escape more easily.
Exercise
: Sport stimulates the muscles in the stomach and intestines and thus digestion.
But don't worry, a walk is recommended here rather than a full gym session.
Medications
: There are over-the-counter medications available in pharmacies that can help with flatulence.
They contain substances that have a defoaming effect in the intestine and allow the bubbles to break up.
Popular ingredients can include thyme, ginger, chamomile flower and wormwood extract mixed with mint oil or valerian.
