(ANSA) - VATICAN CITY, JAN 05 - "I was shocked and speechless": thus mgr.
Georg Gaenswein recounts the moment in which in 2020 he was 'dismissed' by Pope Francis as head of the Prefecture of the Papal Household.
It is Ratzinger's secretary himself who defines himself as "a halved prefect" in the book "Nothing but the truth" written with the journalist Saverio Gaeta (Piemme).
"You remain prefect but I won't go back to work tomorrow", the Pope allegedly said, according to Monsignor Gaenswein himself.
Benedict - we read in the book - commented ironically: "I think Pope Francis no longer trusts me and wants you to be my guardian...".
Ratzinger wrote to Bergoglio to intercede with respect to this situation which in fact he did not change.
