"Really n snapper": Lidl customer stocks up and passes on tips - but there is probably a catch

A supposed Lidl price tip causes discussions on Twitter.
Some are enthusiastic about the supposed bargain, others are skeptical.
That is also justified.
Mainz – Zig offers in every brochure, and that too with many chains from Aldi to Lidl, from Rewe to Kaufland: Who should keep track of things?
In this respect, a tweet from a Lidl customer who shared a personal discounter tip with the world public was probably associated with doubly good intentions.
He has no idea "if anyone is interested, but Lidl has Barilla noodles in 1 kg packs for €1.69."
Lidl customer reports price of 1.69 euros for a kilo of Barilla pasta
The "usual" noodle packs only contain half a kilo, you have to keep that in mind when evaluating.
The Lidl customer apparently found the price so convincing that he bought four packs at once.
And proudly shows his catch: four kilograms of pasta for a total of 6.76 euros.
is that great
Some think so!
It posted hundreds of likes in less than 24 hours.
But also ridicule and critical voices.
"For the next pandemic?" someone wonders.
"Well, still more expensive than the private label," says another, which promptly leads to a price discussion as to how much the private label really costs (answer according to the brochure: 99 cents for 500 grams).
Another user knows what he thinks is a better bargain and relies on a more noble brand: "I bought De Cecco last week for €3 a kilo, I think I got off better," he writes.
"De Cecco best pasta by far," adds another.
The Barilla offer at Lidl inspires at least some.
"Ooh, how cool", "That's really a snapper!", "Oh ha, treat yourself to 4-5 pieces tomorrow.
Thank you" and "Wtf, bargain", they write.
That won't exactly cause such a rush as recently at Aldi in England - there people ran into the discounter's booth.
1.69 euros for a kilogram of Barilla pasta?
Action there was probably in December at Aldi and Lidl - now no longer
Most Lidl customers will walk away disappointed anyway.
Because the big catch: In the Germany-wide prospectus of the week up to 7.1.
Barilla noodles appear on the homepage, but only 500 grams of spaghetti at the regular price of 1.99 euros.
And next to it Lidl's own brand for 99 cents.
Now the Twitter user will not have thought up his purchase.
Presumably it was more about "leftovers" from a December campaign: At that time, as can be read in a MyDealz thread, there was actually a kilogram of Barilla noodles for 1.69 euros at Aldi and Lidl.

Lidl offer for Barilla - but some remind of the history of the pasta company
With several Twitter users, Barilla does not have the best image anyway.
"But stop Barilla.
You don't buy them," warns one.
Another shared a 2019 Stern.de article titled "Barilla's U-turn: How the CEO changed the pasta empire's homophobic image."
This is also remembered by several other comments, some of them more drastic.
Lidl is currently not free from negative headlines either: a customer of the discounter was recently shocked by the price of her entire purchase.
With an advertisement, the discounter also scored an own goal if you look closely.
In this respect, skepticism is always appropriate if you think that the discounter is really cheap.
And it is particularly true in these times of inflation: It pays to compare.
