A price tag of 511.29 euros at Saturn for a Playstation 4 game causes astonishment.

The amount is probably no coincidence, says an insider.

Munich – Inflation is causing consumers to keep stumbling over signs with astonishingly high prices.

A Rewe customer was recently stunned by her receipt with three products.

Another turned at the snack aisle when she saw what the items cost.

But even in these times, a photo that has ended up on Reddit seems unusual.

Saturn: Price tag shows 511.29 euros for Playstation 4 game

Saturn wants an unbelievable 511.29 euros for a Playstation 4 game.

Namely the "Farming Simulator 22".

You have to be a big agricultural fan to pay that amount.

Some users think so too.

"Who would march into an electronics store and buy the farming simulator for over 500 euros?" asks one and gets dozens of likes in four hours.

"Well, life is just strange," muses another.

"What a bargain" a third.

The sign for a Playstation game causes astonishment.

What's even more confusing is that Farming Simulator 22 doesn't appear between the PS4 games in the picture at all.

"I was also extremely amazed!", explains the explorer, after one wonders that the "Life is strange" game behind it is supposed to be a farming simulator.

One of the comments above also refers to “Life is strange”.

Saturn Price Tag For Playstation 4 Game - Insider Provides Plausible Theory

Until then, no really gripping discovery.

Some mistake, you might think.

It only becomes spectacular when an insider speaks up.

He did his training at MediaMarkt and then worked at Saturn for eight years, he explains to tz.de.

He even substantiates this with a photo of his former employee tag.

Although something like this is not completely forgery-proof, it can be assumed that his information is correct and that he knows what he is talking about.

He reveals what probably few customers knew.

“€511.29 is a placeholder if there is no price entered in the system!” he writes.

And goes into detail.

"I can't tell you why exactly 511.29, I'm sure it was explained to me once, but I can't remember it anymore!

But that is actually a standard price set by the system, which is adopted for new products if they have not yet been entered correctly in the merchandise management system.

As soon as everything has been entered correctly, the correct price is displayed in the system and transferred accordingly to these electronic price tags.”

And what happens if someone carries the PS4 Farming Simulator to the Saturn checkout?

Then the cashier would have to notice, says the insider, "and consult with the department".

But it is unlikely that anyone would really want to treat themselves to a PS4 game for 511.29 euros at Saturn.

"In any case, something is not correctly entered into the system"

“You see this price again and again in all areas of the shops.

I can't guarantee whether the undefined price will fit 100 percent in the system, but there's definitely something that's not entered correctly in the system," he qualifies.

And suspects that in the case of Reddit's Saturn photo, where it's an older item, a new supplier or item number is at play.

All of this has to do without official confirmation from Saturn for the time being, but it is a thoroughly plausible theory from an insider background.

In future, Saturn customers will therefore know what the background could be if "511.29 euros" is written somewhere on a digital sign.

Rather, it comes from the "Schmunzel-Discovery" department, which an Aldi customer read on his receipt.
