Because he is said to have abused children several times as a babysitter and daycare worker, the public prosecutor's office in the Cologne district court has brought charges against a 34-year-old man.
As a court spokesman said, the man is accused of, among other things, serious sexual assaults against children and making child abuse images.
According to the information, there are 37 alleged acts.
In order to get to his victims, he is said to have offered his services as a babysitter on the Internet.
In addition, he is said to have used his work as a daycare worker.
According to the indictment, the victims are 15 girls and seven boys between the ages of one and a half and seven years.
The crimes were committed between November 2019 and May 2022, according to the spokesman.
The acts are said to have been committed primarily in the victims' homes, but also in the man's home.
In at least one case, the abuse is said to have taken place on the premises of a daycare center.
According to a previous statement from the public prosecutor, the man had been working for a nursing services company since mid-June 2021.
From which he was placed to look after children, including at three day-care centers.
He was arrested by police in June 2022.
The investigations started when a mother reported that her four-year-old daughter had been abused by the man.
It is not yet clear when the process will begin.
