Electricity and gas prices are rising and heating is becoming more expensive.
But many Germans do not know that they are entitled to additional social benefits as a result.
Kassel – Electricity and gas prices are rising sharply.
The federal government is trying to counteract this with relief packages such as the energy price brake and to support the citizens.
However, since some people are generally struggling with inflation and spending is too low in relation to income, this is not enough for many households.
The consumer center therefore points out the right to social benefits.
Many people do not know that they themselves are entitled to these social benefits.
Because even working people can get support for high heating costs if their earnings are not sufficient.
This is justified by the fact that heating costs are part of the “social law need”.
The need is determined by the costs incurred.
As long as these are reasonably high, the costs will be reimbursed in full, as the Frankfurt job center announced when asked by

.
Otherwise there is an obligation for the citizens to reduce heating costs.
The job centers check in each individual case whether consumption is too high.
The aid is then not limited, but is paid out every month if necessary, it is said.
Heating costs can be reimbursed by state aid
The job center pays out the money for working people.
Pensioners can contact the social welfare office to obtain financial relief.
It should be noted, however, that this assistance only relates to heating costs.
This support does not apply to high electricity bills.
Exceptions are people who heat with electricity - they can then pay part of their electricity bill with social security benefits.

For the assistance, it is independent of whether there is a direct contract with a gas supplier or whether the ancillary costs are paid to the landlord.
The consumer center points out that the application must be made in writing and by the deadline so that it can be approved.
This must be submitted to the job center by the end of the third month after the heating bill is due.
The social welfare office calls for more urgency.
The application must be submitted in the same month.
Especially in the cold winter months, there is a lot of heating.
People for whom this is too expensive can claim social benefits for heating costs.
