Almost every child knows the drink with the red and white lettering on the bottle.

But that's exactly what causes displeasure among fans.

The manufacturer only means well and even gives tips.

It has been a cult drink since it was launched decades ago: Coca-Cola.

The brown sugar drink with the secret recipe refreshes and delights millions of people worldwide.

This makes Coca-Cola one of the most powerful beverage companies in the world.

In addition to the famous soft drink, the group has long been selling many other lemonades and drinks such as Sprite or Fanta, which also have numerous fans worldwide.

But it could be that the soft drink manufacturer will now scare some away.

Did he rather score an own goal with his latest “improvement”?

At least some customers are now raging online.

They get upset about the optimized cap on Coca-Cola bottles.

It seems to be a real challenge for many.

While in the past you could just turn it all the way up, it now sticks to it after opening, and the cap even says "let me turn it on".

"The background is that a relatively large number of plastic lids were found during monitoring on European beaches," explains Philip Heldt from the NRW consumer center to the

editorial network Germany

.

Apparently 43 bottle caps were found on the North Sea on 100 meters of beach alone.

Too much, which is why a new EU requirement now states that a fixed cap will be mandatory from 2024.

The aim is therefore to reduce the resulting environmental pollution.

But Coca-Cola, as the market leader, wants to play a pioneering role here too and already implemented the cap requirement at the end of last year.

However, this only applies to non-returnable bottles, glass and returnable PET bottles.

Much to the displeasure of customers, a user on Twitter is said to find the new closure "super annoying" because it is "always in the way".

In addition, Coca-Cola has raised prices significantly due to the crisis.

Another user, on the other hand, makes fun of the quality of the new bottle caps, also known as “tethered caps”:

But Coca-Cola is relaxed about the criticism and explains in a press release: "We realize that sometimes it seems uncomfortable when tried and tested things are changed.

You have to give yourself a little push to look beyond the usual and see potential for improvement.

Finally, the beverage giant tries with well-intentioned tips: "If the new closure is used correctly, then the small change shouldn't reduce the drinking pleasure.

Just twist it open, tilt the lid backwards, snap it into place and enjoy.”
