It will not take place at all.

At the heart of a controversy fueled by the far right, the Muslim conference scheduled for Sunday in Cabannes (Vaucluse) is canceled, announced its organizers this Saturday, citing "security reasons".

The prefecture had already asked D'Clic, the association organizing this conference, to cancel it in November.

The authority justified its decision by the presence on the poster of the logo of the Baraka City association, dissolved for incitement to hatred after the assassination of Samuel Paty in 2020. The conference had not been canceled, but postponed to this Sunday, then the controversial logo removed from the poster.

Maneuver reconquest

However, the controversy did not die down.

Reconquête mobilized its activists to obtain the new cancellation of its conference: the president of generation Z Stanislas Rigault had launched an online petition when the president of the party, Éric Zemmour, had sent a letter to the prefect of Vaucluse to ask "the 'cancellation of a conference presenting a risk to public safety'.

Reconquest relied, to request the cancellation of this meeting, on the presence among the guests of three controversial personalities.

These, Nader Abou Anas, Mehdi Bouzid, and the Marseille imam Ismaïl Abou Ibrahim, are also preachers "widely disputed" by the departmental council of Muslim worship (CDCM) of Vaucluse, reports France 3. "Nothing 'indicates at this stage that the holding of this meeting could disturb public order,' noted the prefecture in a press release.

"Faced with the thousands of people expected for a room capacity of 600 people", it is "impossible to manage security in these conditions or the crowds", justifies this Saturday D'Clic on Facebook, to announce the cancellation of its event.

And the organization continues: “We are sorry once again to cancel this conference once again, but the

of the fachosphere has been too beneficial to us.
