The Central Association for Sanitary, Heating and Air Conditioning informs consumers about crucial errors when heating.

Anyone who avoids them in the current winter season saves a lot of money.

We'll tell you how to keep your costs under control.

Munich ‒ Electricity and gas prices continue to rise sharply.

The federal government is trying to counteract the volatile prices on the electricity and gas market and to support citizens with relief packages such as the energy price brake.

But in the end, the packages should not be enough for all citizens to be able to pay their bills.

Many know that they have to save now - in the current winter season.

As can already be seen today, the new citizens' income will not cover the electricity costs of those entitled to it.

So if you avoid a few crucial mistakes when heating, you will benefit in the end when it comes to the billing of your ancillary costs.

Consumers should avoid these mistakes:

  • They keep turning the heating up and down.

  • They turn the heating up full blast.

  • In winter they ventilate for several hours with the heating turned on.

  • They delivered their radiators.

  • You are on holiday and the heating continues to run as usual.

  • They leave the doors open in the whole apartment.

Avoid heating mistakes: Expensive heating mistakes that can also lead to mold growth

According to experts, it makes little sense to turn down the heating when leaving the apartment just to save money.

Not only does this promote mold growth, but the constant heating and cooling also leads to the most expensive heating errors.

If you are not at home all day, the experts advise you to turn the heating controls to 2 and 3.

That corresponds to around 17 to 18 degrees Celsius.

Consumers who think they need to turn their heating up to level 5 to warm up their own four walls faster are wrong.

Because that's not true.

In fact, the numbers on the heater head represent a temperature range.

With level 3 consumers reach around 20 degrees, with level 5 already 28 degrees.

Everyone should set their personal comfort temperature here.

Avoid mistakes when heating: Blocked and veiled windows

According to experts, consumers should not leave their windows open for many hours in winter if the heating is on at the same time.

The best thing, on the other hand, is five-minute airing.

However, if you ventilate for longer, you should turn off the heating.

In addition, there is little point in turning up the temperature if the radiators are covered by furniture or curtains.

This is because the heated air cannot be distributed properly in the room.

Somehow logical, but there is still a second opinion here, with the result: curtains help to save.

This tip also seems understandable, but in the hustle and bustle before the start of the trip it is sure to be forgotten by one or the other.

The heating is running at full blast throughout the apartment, even though you are on winter vacation.

When you come home after the holidays, it's comfortably warm.

But this mistake can be really expensive for consumers.

The tip from the experts: Set your boiler to holiday mode and the controls in the entire apartment to 17 to 18 degrees.

Finally, experts recommend keeping doors closed throughout the home and heating each room to the appropriate temperature.

The warm heating air of one room should not flow into a cool room.

A clever woman from Munich therefore had all the windows and doors checked by experts in order to properly exploit all the savings potential.
