(ANSA) - ROME, 08 JAN - In addition to a port closer to Ancona, Geo Barents has asked the Italian authorities to transship its 73 migrants rescued yesterday on the Ocean Viking, but this request has also been rejected.
Doctors Without Borders makes it known.
"The simultaneous sending of two search and rescue vessels to a distant port - notes MSF - shows the intentions of the authorities to reduce the time spent in the sar area, ready to respond to further distress calls".
The weather conditions, the NGO adds, "continue to worsen and will make navigation to Ancona extremely difficult. This is not acceptable".
