Demonstrations in 80 cities. And in Iran students protest shouting slogans against the regime. Tajani: Iran has crossed the red line, disproportionate sentences (ANSA)


Protests today

in 80 cities around the world

to commemorate the victims of the repression in Iran but also the anniversary of the shooting down of Ukraine International Airlines flight PS752 carrying 176 people who took off from Tehran and was hit by an air defense unit of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards (IRCG).

In Brisbane, Australia, a group of Iranians held a protest rally in support of protests sparked in mid-September after the death of Mahsa Amini.

Parade also in London.

"Stop supporting the mullahs' government," protesters shouted in the center of the British capital. 

Numerous people took

to the streets today in various cities of Iran,

from Tehran to Karaj, but also in Najafabad and Bandar Anzali,

shouting slogans against the powerful Revolutionary Guards

: "You are ISIS in Iran", chanted the demonstrators.

Activists from the 1500Tasvir group have released several videos showing students from various universities in Tehran and other cities chanting anti-government slogans and giving their support to the protests.

"We swear by the blood of our friends that we will stand to the end," protesters shouted demanding the release of their comrades.

In most universities the protesters were 'welcomed' by plainclothes university guards who attacked them.

The videos also show young people setting up banners paying tribute to the 176 passengers and crew killed when their plane was "mistakenly" shot down by the Revolutionary Guards near Tehran on January 8, 2020. But also placards commemorating the last two hangings occurred yesterday and linked to the protests.

In some cities, Kermanshah, Saghez and Abdanan, shopkeepers went on strike.   

TAJANI: IRAN HAS CROSSED THE RED LINE 

"Iran has crossed the red line, the point of no return, by starting to carry out the death sentences. Italy is against the death penalty".

Thus Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani on SkyTg24 speaking of

sentences "disproportionate to the crimes committed:

taking life is unacceptable especially if it is done in the name of God".

"I summoned the ambassador and asked him to send a message to Tehran blocking the death sentences. It seems to me that the answer that has been received informally goes in the opposite position. Let's hope that "Tehran changes its position", concluded the minister. 

DELIVERY OF THE COLLECTION OF SIGNATURES TO THE IRANIAN EMBASSY IN ROME 

"In Iran there is an unheard-of brutality of repression of fundamental rights and frankly I am surprised that young Italians are not mobilizing on this, we have not seen a sardine and instead it would be the case that they mobilized, also because whoever is killed , massacred and hanged are really young people who fight for the freedom that Italians have".

So the leader of Azione, Carlo Calenda in front of the Iranian embassy after the delivery of the collection of signatures,

for the respect of freedoms and rights in Iran launched by the newspaper la Stampa

.

For the Iranian cause, alongside the people and women, the Radicals also took sides who joined the march organized in the afternoon by the Iranian community in Rome and Turin.

MEETING IN TEHRAN IN FRONT OF THE FRENCH EMBASSY TO PROTEST AGAINST CHARLIE HEBDO CARTOONS

 The Islamic Republic of Iran's official news agency IRNA reported that a rally was held today in front of the French embassy in Tehran to

protest the publication of Ali Khamenei's cartoons in the French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo

.

According to the agency, those present at the rally shouted some slogans: "Death to Israel and death to England" and "Shame on France".

Charlie Hebdo magazine last week published a special issue dedicated to Iran with 35 cartoons mocking Khamenei.
