The dates of the winter sales 2023
The official period for the 2023 winter sales takes place between Wednesday January 11 and Tuesday February 7, 2023. The duration of the event is therefore four weeks, as has been the case for two years already.
These dates are valid in the vast majority of departments of metropolitan France, but they are also in force on the Internet.
However, there are exceptions within certain departments, where sales dates may vary.
Indeed, in the Grand Est, that is to say in the departments of Moselle, Meurthe-et-Moselle, Meuse as well as in the Vosges, the winter sales take place from Monday 2 to Sunday 29 January.
These exceptions exist due to the proximity of the departments to the German and Luxembourg borders.
The overseas departments are also entitled to different dates: thus, the winter sales take place from January 7 to February 3 in Guadeloupe, Martinique and Guyana, from February 4 to March 3 in Reunion, from May 6 to June 2 in Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon and from May 7 to June 3 in Saint-Barthélemy and Saint-Martin.
During these staggered dates, there will be no sales periods offered online: to do good business on the Internet, it is the period from January 11 to February 7, 2023 that must be remembered.
What the law says about winter sales
In France, sales are regulated by the Ministry of the Economy.
Various articles of the Commercial Code govern this event and traders must therefore respect them.
