More than 20 years ago, "8 Mile" was released in cinemas - starring rapper Eminem.

Now Eminem's colleague 50 Cent has announced that he wants to adapt the story as a TV series.

The interview has been running for more than 20 minutes when a cheerful and relaxed 50 Cent bursts out with the news: He is currently working on bringing the 2002 movie "8 Mile" to TV as a series.

The moderator of the YouTube channel "Big Boy TV", who has 50 Cent as a guest, is actually speechless for a moment - and he asks to be sure: "Does Eminem know that?" - "Yes."

8 Mile, starring Eminem, was released in 2002

As a reminder: "8 Mile" was a real surprise in cinemas in 2002. It's been more than 20 years since US director Curtis Hanson, who had previously directed "The Wonder Boys" and "L.

A. Confidential,” told the story of fellow Jimmy Smith Jr. in this film.

Jimmy belongs to the "white trash" of Detroit - as rapper B-Rabbit he learns to express his frustration, his anger, his desperation and hope through lyrics and music.

Initially ridiculed by the black rap scene, B-Rabbit earns and fights for respect - and learns to take responsibility.

For yourself and others.

Rapper Eminem, who just turned 50, got his first – and so far only – starring role in a movie in 8 Mile.

The story, which also stars Kim Basinger, Brittany Murphy and Michael Shannon, is based on his life but isn't necessarily autobiographical.

"8 Mile" has grossed around 243 million US dollars worldwide - on a budget of just 41 million US dollars.

Eminem's theme song "Lose Yourself" won an Oscar in 2003.

50 Cent wants to reinterpret "8 Mile".

Three years after the success of "8 Mile", the life of the rapper 50 Cent became cinema material: "Get rich or die tryin'" by Jim Sheridan is the title of the musician's debut album.

In contrast to Eminem, 50 Cent was subsequently seen again and again as an actor (e.g. in the boxing film "Southpaw") and producer - and is also a highly active, successful businessman.

For the adaptation of "8 Mile" as a series, the rapper, who was born Curtis Jackson in New York in 1975, now announces "many more details" in terms of content.

He envisions a reinterpretation of the story, he says, pointing to the sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air (1990-1996), which was reimagined and reimagined as Bel-Air in 2022.

"It's going to be big," promises 50 Cent.
