(ANSA) - MEXICO CITY, JAN 09 - US President Joe Biden has promised "unwavering support" to Brazilian leader Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, and has invited him to Washington by early February.
This was stated in a statement from the White House.
"President Biden declared the unwavering support of the United States for Brazilian democracy" in the course of a telephone call, reads the statement, which adds that the president, currently in Mexico City, invited Lula - who accepted - "at the beginning of February" at the White House.
"President Biden condemns the violence and attacks on democratic institutions and the peaceful transfer of power. The two leaders agreed to work closely together on issues facing the United States and Brazil, including climate change, economic development, peace and security," the White House statement said.
