(ANSA) - AREZZO, 09 JAN - The investigating judge of Arezzo has released Sandro Mugnai, 53, who, firing five shots from a rifle, killed the 59-year-old neighbor Gezim Dodoli, an Albanian worker, on the evening of 5 January while he was demolishing his house with an excavator inside which Mugnai was with family and relatives.
The arrest was validated but the investigating judge considered that there was no danger of escape or repetition of the crime or danger of contaminating the evidence and did not order precautionary measures against the 53-year-old.
According to what has been learned, the defenders, lawyers Marzia Lelli and Piero Melani Graverini, have now already focused on the need to exercise self-defense, an issue which will then be taken up again in the continuation of the proceedings.
The man by shooting, it was argued before the judge, would have defended his family in danger of life from the imminent and possible collapse of the roof of the house, which was being attacked with shots from the excavator operated by Dodoli.
