Lidl customer finds lizard in spinach pack - video shows how the animal suddenly moves

But she was still alive.

Despite strict controls, uninvited guests occasionally get into groceries from supermarkets.
A Lidl customer found an animal in his spinach.
Munich/London - If you go shopping in the supermarket or discounter, you will find numerous products there.
There is actually something for every taste on the shelves of Lidl, Aldi, Rewe, Edeka, Kaufland or the competition.
When it comes to food, there are many different products, with and without meat, depending on your needs or eating habits.
A Lidl customer in the UK, meanwhile, chose a healthy option as he walked into a branch.
The man, who lives in London according to his Twitter profile, bought a pack of spinach leaves from Lidl.
The vegetables were encased in plastic packaging, similar to those used in ready-to-eat salad packs.

The customer then wanted to prepare the leaf spinach at home, but when he looked at the package he couldn't believe his eyes.
"Thanks Lidl for the little friend who had breakfast with us this morning," he wrote on Twitter.
He added a short video and a picture to his tweet.
It was clearly visible that there was a rather large animal in the middle of the spinach leaves.
More specifically, a lizard.
And apparently she was still alive.
The video shows how the Lidl customer zooms in on the apparently lifeless lizard and nudges it with his index finger.
The animal then moves.
It had apparently survived the involuntary enclosing in the plastic foil.
Holes in the spinach pack may have provided the lizard with the air supply it needed to survive.

Still, she understandably appeared a little dazed in the video.
However, a second clip from the Twitter user showed that the reptile was gradually recovering.
"Update!
Not dead, definitely alive and walking around in the pack," wrote the Lidl customer for video number two.
"What should we do, Lidl?" he asked in the direction of the company.

But did Lidl need advice in this situation?
Hardly likely.
The most obvious solution would have been to simply open the package and free the animal.
Then you could have exposed it in nature, even without the help or advice of a Lidl employee.
It remained unclear whether the Lidl customer did so and whether the lizard survived its imprisonment in the spinach pack unscathed.
There was also a reaction from Lidl to the lizards found in the spinach: "Oh no, James," wrote an employee and asked for personal contact.
However, even with the competition, it sometimes happens that an animal guest is found in a food product.
An Edeka customer also recently discovered an uninvited guest in his salad.
