Ex-Beatle Paul McCartney, 80, is said to have been almost run over by a car during filming at the legendary crosswalk on London's Abbey Road.

The British musician wanted to recreate the famous Beatles album cover from 1969 for a documentary film by his daughter Mary about Abbey Road Studios, Mary McCartney told the British newspaper Express's S Magazine.

"When we were on our way (out of the studio) I said to him: 'I'm filming you at the crosswalk' and he walked over it and this car didn't even stop for him!" That was very funny.

The documentary "If These Walls Could Sing" on Disney+ is a homage to the recording studio Abbey Road Studios in the London street of the same name, where the Beatles also recorded music.

Fans often pose at the crosswalk there like the Fab Four on the cover of the Abbey Road album.

Mary McCartney was born 53 years ago to musician Paul and photographer and animal rights activist Linda (née Eastman).

Professionally, she followed in her mother's footsteps.

In 2015, Mary McCartney was chosen to photograph the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, published by the royal family at a time when Elizabeth's tenure was longer than that of her predecessors.

Paul and Linda McCartney's eldest daughter has also published two vegetarian cookbooks and hosts a cooking show on Discovery+, Mary McCartney Serves It Up.

In the interview with the Sunday Express magazine, she says that her last name almost stopped her from taking on the project for fear of getting too close to the subject.

But almost everything about Abbey Road Studios was new to her: "We didn't sit together as a family and talk about these Beatles stories."

In addition to Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, Mary McCartney interviewed Elton John, Nile Rodgers, Noel and Liam Gallagher, Roger Waters, Celeste, George Lucas and others for If These Walls Could Sing.
