(ANSA) - ROME, 09 JAN - "We will have a great exhibition at the Quirinale with the bronzes of San Casciano, which I hope will open in early May".
This was announced by the Minister of Culture, Gennaro Sangiuliano, on Nelle Storie on Rai3.
"The ministry - he said again - is acquiring a building in San Casciano to exhibit the finds, but first I would like to make them travel. For example, in my Naples, in Milan, in Venice, before they go to their definitive places".
Sangiuliano also explained that "experts are restoring these finds" and that "digging will resume in May and we will probably find more".
"Guaranteeing the opening of the museums on 26 December, 1 and 2 January was my battle - the minister said -. We will do our best to open them also at Easter and August 15th. The museum is a public service and, like Rai and the hospitals must remain open. We will equip ourselves so that a special indemnity is recognized, but I cannot accept that a Chinese or American tourist who invests 20,000 dollars may not find these museums open".
"We have 5 million works, but we only exhibit 480 thousand - he continued -. It is unthinkable to exhibit them all, but an effort must be made to increase our offer. Net of the pandemic, in the coming years we will see an increase in the global flow of tourism, we must equip ourselves to receive this flow".
"I want to resume the agreement made by my predecessors to charge a small ticket of 2 euros to those who come to the Pantheon - Sangiuliano also reiterated. The resources must remain there to take care of the property and the square".
