Save money when ironing: Without steam, you save 90 percent of the energy

Ironing is annoying for many and can also cost a lot of money if you often use the steam function.
If you don't, you save as much energy as preparing 70 cups of coffee.
Converting to LED lamps, always switching off electronic devices after use and not leaving your mobile phone connected to the charging cable in the socket forever: there are many ways to save energy and therefore money.
This is more important than ever in the current energy crisis.
While most people don't want to do without a warm apartment in the winter months, there are other options or objects that you can or want to make compromises with.
This also applies to the iron.
According to the HEA – specialist association for efficient energy
use, those who do without the steam function are doing their wallet
a lot of good.

Because ironing costs a comparatively large amount of energy.
For comparison: one kilowatt hour of electricity is just enough for half an hour with a steam iron, with the same amount of electricity you can prepare 70 cups of coffee instead.

The "steam iron requires electricity to heat the iron itself and also to generate steam," according to the website of the Federal Environment Agency.
"From an environmental point of view, it is therefore advisable to limit the generation of steam and thus the consumption of electricity."

By the way: Ironing stations are even bigger power guzzlers.
They usually consume more than a steam iron.
In addition, according to Stiftung Warentest, they are no better than the latter, since they do not offer any significant advantages in terms of ironing time.
