An exhibition at the Shoah Memorial devoted to the Belgian comic strip character Spirou, the idea may surprise.
However, from the entrance, with the frieze drawn which describes the evolution over the decades of the famous groom of the Moustic Hotel, created in 1938 by Rob-Vel, we let ourselves be guided with pleasure, interest and confidence.
And it doesn't take long to dive into the heart of Émile Bravo's four albums,
Spirou.
Hope despite everything
(published by Dupuis between 2018 and 2022), a tetralogy set during the German occupation in Belgium.
Many original plates, rare photos and documents from the period, paintings as well as puppets from the war years make up a very rich exhibition that allows you to understand the horrors of the Second World War linked to the systematic extermination of the Jewish people carried out by the Nazis.
