In April 2010, Ella Dan, a 27-year-old young woman who was traveling in South America and found her death in a bicycle accident in Bolivia, was killed.
Ella graduated from the theater department at Tel Aviv University, and from childhood believed in the power of the theater and the power of people to create and change.
Four years after her death, her parents, Avraham and Nima, decided to commemorate their beloved daughter and establish a fund in her name to support the actors and creators of the Behima Theater in Berishit Darchem.
"The Ella Dan Fund for encouraging young actors and creators at the national theater 'Habima'" has awarded 20 awards to date. This year it will happen as part of a celebratory performance of the musical play "The Most Beautiful Year in My Life", the work of Ohad Hitman directed by Moshe Kaptan, which will be performed at the end of this month in the evening festive.

"We didn't know how to immortalize her," says her father Avraham, "we thought we should see how she stays with us. One day I was at the Khan's show 'Tahila', and I met two friends from Ella's class there. It brought back a memory that she had performed there as part of her studies, and there I also met the director Shir Goldberg, who directed Ella's play and at the time worked at Habima. She told me that she and Shahar Pankas were to stage the play 'Adam does not die for nothing' at Habima, and we were joined by people from the theater's management who offered us to buy the the show and to give scholarships to artists and young creators. That's how we started. Year by year it developed and every year we choose one show from the theater."
If Ella could see the way you chose to immortalize her what would she say?
"She would say that she finally reached the 'stage'. If she was alive I'm sure she would have been in the theater. I don't know if as an actress, but maybe as a director or producer."
The Ella Dan stage awards will be awarded to five young actors and creators on January 26 at the stage theater.
