MULA is a new vegan cafe on Yehuda Halevi Street in Tel Aviv, with food for celiac patients, gluten avoiders and vegan food. All the details, the desserts and the menu in the Walla article! Food >>>

A yard that keeps the hustle and bustle of the street away.

Let's perhaps start by breaking one of the most common prejudices about vegans - we, just like you, like our food tasty, sometimes spoiled, sometimes healthy, full of calories if necessary, but tasty is for sure.

Why am I even bothering to clarify this other than the fact that I'm sick of prejudice?

Because this week I came to a cafe whose health-vegan-environmental agenda screams from everywhere, even from its name (MULA - Conscious Café), and although I could get annoyed, I, a known lover of sweets, found some gems there.

Another step forward.

In a good way.

MULA is the little sister of the well-known "Bana", but she has taken the issue of veganism one step further, so that the menu does not include gluten (excellent for celiacs and non-celiacs), does not include processed white sugar - but mainly coconut sugar, without animal products and perishable utensils on the side Pottery cups that you can buy and refill at a discount.

The cafe, which defines itself as "social" and is located on Yehuda Halevi Street in Tel Aviv, also has a charming little courtyard where social gatherings and yoga classes are held in the morning, for example.

What are the chances of such a place becoming a magnet not only for health seekers and lovers of matcha and spirulina?

It is not clear.

What is clear, at least to me, is that more places need to put their money and intention where their mouth is.

and ours.

But enough with agendas.

What do you eat here?

The menu is small and has probably gone through several rounds since opening.

In the savory section, you will find here the trendy avocado toast (NIS 38), leaf salad (26/38), sweet potato puff (yes, yes - gluten-free) with cashew labneh (NIS 34) and a sort of Buddha ball of quinoa, lentils, Root vegetables and seaweed (NIS 46).

In addition, there is also a selection of changing sandwiches. We tasted one with a hummus and eggplant omelette, and although the bread felt like the real thing, what went inside it required further adjustment, mainly in quantity, because the taste was good.

perfect.

In sweets, the situation has completely changed.

The menu includes buckwheat-quinoa-banana pancakes with homemade Nutella (NIS 46), chia pudding from coconut rice milk, cocoa chips, buckwheat granola and seasonal fruit (NIS 28), and coconut cashew muesli with buckwheat granola, goji berries and seasonal fruit (34 shekels).

The pancake was delicious and its healthy ingredients were noticeable (in a good way).

The homemade Nutella was very tasty and maybe it's worth it for the owners of the place to sell small jars to anyone looking for a healthy sweet, but the truth is that the best were the chocolate bars in the display case.

They are not cheap, but they are rich, chocolaty and it's nice to know that there is no sugar in them.

A little more and it's there.

The real kick, at least in our eyes, is found in the winter drinks category, which includes mola matcha - powder of young Japanese green tea leaves, maple and plant milk (NIS 24), cocoa - raw cocoa, maca root, maple, Himalayan salt and cayenne (NIS 24 NIS), and our new drink from now on - "Dirty Chai", with ginger, cinnamon, cloves, cardamom, vanilla and a shot of espresso (NIS 27) - a perfect drink for tea and coffee lovers that combines the two perfectly.

Hell, how come they didn't think of this before.
