The potato animal must have crept in!

A Rewe customer finds an item in her pack of potato wedges that is anything but vegetarian.

Bad news for anyone who is really trying their New Year's resolutions and has started Veganuary.

To all appearances, some vegetables are anything but free from animal products.

A puzzled Rewe customer who wants to bake a simple potato snack in the oven finds out.

But when she opens the potato wedges, she finds something that doesn't resemble the golden-yellow columns at all.

"A good portion of disgust": Rewe customer finds bones in potatoes

Potatoes: you boil them, mash them, put them in the soup.

The tubers can be prepared in a number of ways.

Very popular are the potato wedges, also known as wedges, which are heavily seasoned and either deep-fried or baked.

If the description makes your mouth water, be warned.

A Facebook user's recent find in her pack of wedges can make you lose your appetite.

After her purchase, the woman writes, dismayed, about what she finds in her pack of freshly opened ja! potato wedges: "(...) with a bit of shock and also a good deal of disgust, we have this delicious with marinated bones in our pack today !

Potato wedges discovered.. maybe it would be advisable to check the corresponding batch to see if there are more bones (parts) in other bags.” Such constructive criticism is rarely read online.

You can tell it's serious.

The user attaches photos of the uninvited supplement to her Facebook post.

Disgusting find in a Rewe product: where does the bone come from?

She attached a picture to the post showing the bone already lying on the baking sheet, reports HEIDELBERG24.

You can imagine the hungry customer emptying her wedges onto the tray, ready to just pop the snack into the preheated oven and be enjoying deliciously crispy potato wedges in a few minutes.

And then this: A bone rattles on the sheet metal.

And no matter how tasty it is marinated, you still don't want to nibble on it.

First of all, a small criticism of the hypothetical scenario: preheating is not necessary.

If you do without, you can save real money.

Much more important, however: where does the bone come from?

How did it get into the pack?

Is it leftovers from the processing of animal parts?

Or did something fall into the deep fryer that should never come near food?

The more you think about the possible background to the mishap, the queasy the feeling in your stomach.

Bone find in potato snack: Rewe team speaks up

Before the amateur archaeologists can move in, the Rewe team speaks up, without any answers, but with the information that the incident does not meet the quality requirements and the request to contact the Rewe team directly with any questions so that the matter could be clarified.

However, the incident has nothing to do with the changes that have been in effect at Rewe, Edeka and Co. since the beginning of January.

If you let your potato wedges get cold out of sheer shock, you might be able to use these french fries tricks to get the snack nice and crispy again.

Otherwise, the all-clear applies: Potatoes are usually completely vegan.
