There is still one

"future for the Italian banks"

which

, after having definitively closed the season of regulation "by ear", have now been dealing for years with the single European supervision in transformation and now can and must play a crucial role in accompanying companies in the ecological transition, not leaving it solely to the State.

In the 230 pages of the volume

'"The future of banks',

published by Baldini+Castoldi, Stefano Lucchini and Andrea Zoppini (respectively chief institutional affairs and external communication officer of Intesa Sanpaolo and full professor of Civil Law at the University of Roma Tre) retrace the path, sometimes bumpy,

"It is not only the task of the State to assume a renewed role of leadership of the processes of innovation and economic development but also of the bank, in becoming a participant in this movement, accompanying companies along the entire value chain towards the ecological transition" he writes Lucchini who also underlines "the unrepeatable opportunity to rethink the 'business as usual' models".

Lucchini also tackles the issue of banking concentrations which should be seen "as one of the possible strategies for dealing with the inefficiencies of the system".

The sector is in fact facing a profound change both for external factors and for the unstoppable impulse of technological innovation.

In this context, European supervision is changing relations with banks and with the national authorities.

The ECB has "conspicuous discretion" and inspection and sanctioning powers, but the national central banks also retain some powers and prerogatives.

And therefore, Zoppini points out, after the time "of the regulation on the ear that ran along the corridors of Palazzo Kock of the Bank of Italy" and the time "of the regulation in the Eurotower skyscraper where a formal communicative style predominated", now the regulation runs "across digital platforms".

For this there is a delicate task ahead: "
