(ANSA) - ISTANBUL, JAN 10 - 88 journalists have been arrested in Iran after September 16, when the still ongoing government protests began, which exploded following the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini who lost her life after being arrested because she did not wear her veil correctly.
This was announced by the New York-based NGO 'Committee to ProtectJournalists' (CPJ) which yesterday updated its report on arrested reporters based on sources within the country.
"The repression led to Iran becoming the worst jailer of journalists in the world in the 2022 CPJ census," the NGO said.
