Although the light rail in the Galilee landscape is not yet on the tracks, in the past year 2022 the works for its construction have been observed, and at the beginning of the year 2023 you can already see ready infrastructure.

The Ministry of Transportation, which is carrying out the project through the Chutza Israel company and in cooperation with the Nof HaGalil municipality, established a huge 'Hannah Vesa' parking lot in the Har Yona C industrial area, and regulated the Kiryat Yavram intersection in close proximity to it and the municipality building - where the Kiryat Yavram station of the light rail will be built.

This special station will be built using the "excavation and cover" (C&C) method and will include an underground tunnel on Ma'ale Yitzhak Street, in the section between the college and the municipality building.

In addition, bridges, escalators and elevators will be erected at the station for the convenience of users.

The works for the construction of the Kiryat Havanet station are expected to begin in the coming months.

During the past year, the works to expand the Gilead Bridge also progressed in favor of expanding the route of the light rail.

The mayor, Ronan Plot:

"The 'Nofit' train will bring about the transportation revolution that Nof HaGalil has been hoping for since the day it was established. This is a mega project which, when completed, will immeasurably improve the quality of life of the residents and the city itself will strengthen its attractiveness in all areas of life."

The light rail project is promoted by the Chutsa Israel company, and is intended to provide the residents of the north with an advanced, fast and convenient means of public transportation.

The light rail is expected to be electric, green and environmentally friendly, and does not cause noise or air pollution.

This is a strategic national project that will connect the blocks of settlements in the Haifa metropolis, will make the employment centers in the north accessible and will help promote economic growth in the northern region.

According to the expectations, the light rail will serve about 100,000 passengers a day.

The planned light rail route will be 41 km long at ground level, and will include 20 urban and interurban stations - starting from the Gulf Central Station in Haifa, through Kiryat Ata, Shafaram, Bir al-Makhsor, Rayna, Mashhad, Nof HaGalil and Nazareth.

The frequency of the train will be between 4 for 10 minutes, with an estimated travel time between Nof HaGalil (Har Yona Station) and Haifa (Hafaretz Central Station) - about 40 minutes. Some of the light rail stations are located in areas where there are plans for future construction.

Chutza Israel CEO Dan Shanbach:

" I welcome the continued promotion of the Nofit light rail works, the flagship project of Cross Israel that will bring about a transportation, social and economic revolution in the north. This project will allow direct, convenient and quick access to employment and leisure centers for the residents of the area."
