Pd seeks agreement on online voting, Letta does not want to force

This morning there was a meeting between the secretariat and the Sherpas of the four candidates for Congress. There is a risk of a wall against a wall and the count in the direction (ANSA)

Avoid internal counting on online voting and, therefore, a clear split in the party.

On the eve of the dem direction, which will have to ratify the regulation for the new primaries, the whirlwind of meetings and phone calls between the candidates and the Nazarene has the difficult task of arriving at the meeting with a package of shared proposals: "We are negotiating in search of a unitary solution", the secretariat announced in the evening.

When the hoped-for agreement is still a work in progress.

The Nazarene will not support proposals "that are not supported by everyone" and warns: "No forcing and no lacerations. A sense of responsibility is needed in order not to spoil a path with fractures that must be absolutely avoided at this moment".

In the headquarters of the national Democratic Party, the representatives of the four candidates (Stefano Bonaccini, Gianni Cuperlo, Paola De Micheli and Elly Schlein) meet both in the morning and in the late afternoon.

Between the two rounds, the utterances of the national secretariat and a round of phone calls from the secretary Enrico Letta with the directly concerned are inserted.

"The objective, in line with the impartiality and guarantee profile that Letta intends to maintain, is to reach the management with a solution shared by all the candidates on the rules of the Congress and the date of the primaries - explains the Nazareno -. This was from the beginning our guiding star".

In the chatter of the Transatlantic as a hypothesis of mediation between the parties there is talk of online voting only for members, but during the last evening meeting one of the participants,

If on the postponement of the primaries from February 19 to 26 (in order not to overlap with the regional ones) an agreement has been reached in fact, it is Schlein's proposal to open up to online participation that does not find agreement.

"The rules are not changed while the game is in progress", the refrain among its competitors.

But the supporters of the deputy are confident that, going to the vote in the management (with an odg or an amendment), they will still be able to win the majority.

Such a scenario would cause an internal split that would be difficult to heal and, in any case, all rules issued by management would have to be reviewed by the assembly.

Chiara Gribaudo, a supporter of Schlein says she is "personally in favor of the online primaries. What I don't like is the media debate".

Also Alessandro Zan,

On the issues, work is the common thread among the candidates: Bonaccini relaunches the legal minimum wage;

Schlein looks to a "new model of development for the territories that does not create a contradiction between the right to work and the right to health";

the first proposal by former minister De Micheli is "higher salaries and a reduction in the tax wedge".

The secretary general of the CGIL, Maurizio Landini, also intervenes: "In recent years there has been a break between the world of work and politics. And I think this is the political issue they must deal with".
