(ANSA) - ROME, JAN 10 - Nine people were killed in clashes between demonstrators and security forces in the city of Juliaca in Peru.
This was announced by the local ombudsman.
The protesters, who are calling for the resignation of President Dina Boluarte, had attempted to invade the city's airport, located in the southeast of the country.
"At the moment there are 9 dead in the morgue after the clashes in Juliaca" in the Aymara region (an Amerindian population) of Puno, Nivardo Enriquez Barriales, coordinator of the mediation office in Juliaca told AFP.
