The series adaptation of The Last of Us by the US broadcaster HBO will start shortly.

The gripping story about Ellie and Joel has made several players excited like few other video games.

Season 1 of the HBO series adaptation is now in the starting blocks, and the episodes will also be broadcast simultaneously in Germany.

How many episodes does season 1 have?

HBO's Craig Mazin spoke at the start of ten episodes, but in November 2022, the network confirmed that Season 1 of The Last of Us will have nine episodes.

The series celebrates its TV premiere on January 15th.

In Germany, Sky and WOW will show the 1st season from the night of January 16th – i.e. at the same time as the US broadcast.

The episodes appear on a weekly basis.

Who is producing the series?

HBO announced The Last of Us adaptation in 2020.

Leading are Craig Mazin, who has worked on the hit series Chernobyl, among other things, and Neil Druckmann, the creative director and author of The Last of Us games.

With Druckmann involved, fans can rest assured that the series will stay true to the original.

Ellie and Joel are starring Bella Ramsey and Pedro Pascal, both of whom also appeared on HBO's Game of Thrones.

The Last of Us can be seen in this country on Sky and WOW.

This is what The Last of Us is about:

The Last of Us shows a post-apocalyptic scenario in which humanity is being infested by a parasitic fungus.

The majority of the population turns into aggressive, zombie-like creatures after infection.

The focus of the games and series is the young girl Ellie, who is apparently immune to an infection.

Smuggler Joel is hired to take her to a resistance group called the Fireflies.

Together, they roam through devastated and mostly abandoned cities while fighting off infected and enemy groups and fighting for survival.
