This sauerkraut-Kassel casserole with Schupfnudeln is the recipe for our Swabian fans.

Classic dish with a difference.
Surely you have eaten Kasseler with sauerkraut and some Schupfnudel.
So it can only be an absolute hit if you gratinate everything together in a cheese casserole!
We have made the experience that a small break in culture now and then has never done anyone any harm, and this cheesy treat makes every Swabian weak.
In addition, this recipe is really quick and easy to prepare.
So try it out for yourself!
That's how it's done:
You need these ingredients:
300 g Kassler, in large cubes
300 g noodles
300 grams of sauerkraut
70 g onions, cut into small cubes
200 g grated cheese
200 g crème fraîche
3 eggs
200 ml whipping cream
8 g chives, chopped into fine rings
1 tsp salt
0.5 tsp pepper
The preparation is so easy:
Preheat the oven to 200°C for a circulating air.
In a large bowl, mix Kassler, Schupfnudeln, sauerkraut, cheese, onions, 100 g grated cheese, crème fraîche, eggs, whipped cream and chives with salt and pepper.
Place the prepared casserole base in a suitable oven pan or casserole dish, spread evenly and sprinkle with the remaining 100 g grated cheese.
Bake in the oven for 30 minutes until a golden brown crust forms.
If required, chives can also be sprinkled over the casserole.
