(ANSA) - ROME, JAN 10 - Covid officially turns three: it was January 11, 2020 when China announced the first death which at the time it linked to a form of pneumonia caused by a new type of virus of the same family as Sars, the syndrome severe acute respiratory disease.


    The first outbreak, the Beijing authorities said at the time, had been identified in December 2019 in the city of Wuhan, in the province of Hubei.

The local health commission said that up to that moment 41 cases had been diagnosed with symptoms of the new pneumonia: in addition to the first victim, 7 people were in serious condition and two had been discharged.

Most of the infected, the Commission added in an online note, worked in a fish and game market in the city.


    Soon the new coronavirus appeared all over the world, causing billions of cases and millions of deaths, and forcing all countries to introduce more or less severe measures, social distancing, closures and lockdowns.
