The death toll from the kamikaze attack
in front of the entrance to the Foreign Ministry in Kabul, Afghanistan is at least 5 dead and several injured.
The police reported it.
"An explosion occurred today on the road to the Foreign Ministry as a result of which five civilians were martyred and many others were injured," said Kabul police spokesman Khalid Zadran.
More than 40 wounded were received at the Emergency surgical center for war victims in Kabul following the explosion that took place at 4.00 pm Afghan time, in Malek Ashgar square, near the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, very close to the association's hospital.
This is the first mass casualty managed in 2023 by the Emergency hospital in the capital.
There were 29 registered in 2022.
"Up to now we have received over 40 patients in the hospital, it is difficult to draw up a balance, the activities are still ongoing - explains Stefano Sozza, program director of Emergency in Afghanistan. - This is the first mass casualty of 2023, but certainly from the beginning 2022 one of those with more patients. So much so that we had to provide beds in the kitchens and in the canteen as well".
